Our Projects

At Ubwite Mission House, we believe in building a self-sustaining and nurturing environment for the children in our care. Our projects include vegetable gardens, maize and watermelon farming, as well as poultry and fish farming. These initiatives not only provide nutritious food but also equip the children with practical life skills, promote sustainability, and create opportunities for income generation to support the mission’s daily needs.

Fruits and Vegetables Projects

Chibwabwa (Pumpkin Leaves)

To support our mission of providing nutritious meals for the children at Ubwite Mission House, we’ve established a small pumpkin leaves garden within our premises. This sustainable initiative not only supplements daily feeding with fresh, organic vegetables, but also teaches our children the value of agriculture, responsibility, and self reliance. Every leaf harvested is a step toward a healthier home.

Carrots Field

As part of our sustainable agriculture efforts, the carrot field at Ubwite Mission House plays a vital role in enriching the children’s diet with essential nutrients. Grown with love and care, these carrots not only support healthy feeding but also serve as a hands-on learning experience for the children in gardening and food production. It’s one of the many ways we’re cultivating a self-sustaining and nourishing environment.

Rape Vegetable & Spice Garden

Our rape and spice garden is a thriving part of the Ubwite Mission House’s food sustainability initiative. Fresh rape vegetables provide vital greens for balanced meals, while homegrown spices like garlic, ginger, and chili add flavor and health benefits to our daily cooking. This garden not only feeds the body but also fosters a spirit of stewardship and appreciation for God’s creation among the children and caregivers.

Maize Field

The maize field at Ubwite Mission House is a cornerstone of our food security efforts. Maize is a staple in our daily meals, used to prepare nourishing nshima for the children. By growing our own maize, we reduce food costs, ensure a reliable supply, and teach the children valuable agricultural skills. Every harvest is a testament to God’s provision and the power of community-driven sustainability.

Watermelon Field – Chisamba

Located on our Chisamba farmland, the watermelon field is a refreshing part of Ubwite Mission House’s agricultural projects. These juicy fruits not only provide a sweet and healthy treat for the children, but also offer income-generating opportunities when sold in local markets. The project empowers us to expand our food supply while supporting long-term sustainability for the mission.
